What to Wear?

It's always a bit of a minefield to work out what to wear at your portrait session. But hopefully this page will be an inspiration to help you feel confident with what to bring.

We love to create beautiful classic portraits of you and your family that will last a lifetime on the walls of your home.

So here are some things to think about...

Our first piece of advice would be to think of colours. You don't all have to wear the same colours.

Pick 2 colours that compliment.... and use different shades from those colours.

E.g.  Blue and white.

This covers all the spectrum of blue, from navy through to pastel blue. White is a lovely complimenting colour to every shade of blue.

or Black and White....

Then you have all the spectrum from white to black including, light and dark greys.

or Brown and Black...

Again you have a whole palette of browns and blacks to chose from.

Try to avoid big Logos on t-shirts and too many patterns and stripes. Plain is always simple and classic.

There is time in the session for an outfit change so feel free to change up the colours or even the style.

Whether you go for more casual styling or more formal, make sure you always feel comfortable.

Try to keep the colours similar and more muted to keep a classic look, the brighter and bolder you go the more one individual may stick out compared to everybody else.

Next thing to think about is shoes...

You may not want those trainers that you wear everyday that are full of scuffs and scrapes. They may not be seen in every shot but they will feature at some point in the session. So think about something smart and co-ordinating with the outfits you have chosen. If you are going casual the other option is always to go barefoot... but it generally looks better if everyone is doing the same... so make sure everyone is happy to do that.

We have a variety of backgrounds to compliment whatever colours and styling you chose.

Please bring two outfits. We can use two different colour backdrops during a portrait session. So you can go for an outfit change or a background change... or both?

For children we suggest and extra outfit. Its always best to have a spare, just in case!!!

Bring a hair brush for children as their hair can get a bit messy during the session.

Do bring extra makeup, especially lipstick for the ladies.

We have changing facilities in the studio.

We hope this helps you with some ideas for what to bring for your session. And we can't wait to meet you all!
